Home Remedies to Cure Whiteheads

Whiteheads is a common skin problem that occurs mostly in puberty, but can also prolong later on. These make the skin rough, unattractive and dull.

How whiteheads are formed

Whiteheads occur when there is excessive activity of sebum.  When this excess sebum combined with keratin is accumulated in pores of the skin around hair follicle, it cause clogging of these pores. Depth of white heads varies. Deep ones are quite stubborn and really hard to remove, whereas shallow can be removed with little effort.


It is essential to remove whitehead properly because they cause damage to skin texture, and adversely affect its health and appearance. Forehead, cheekbones, nose sides, temple and chin are the most affected parts of the face. By taking proper care of your skin, whitehead can be prevented easily. People having an oily skin are more prone to whiteheads as compared to other skin types because pores are opened and oil-producing glands are over-active. Formation of white heads is very likely in that skin.

1.Drink water

The foremost measure to take is consume at least 2 liters (8 glass ) or more fresh water everyday. Water is an excellent tonic to detoxify your body and keep it clean from inside. It also prevents drying out of the skin by keeping it hydrated.

2.Well-planned diet

Take balanced diet full of nourishment including fresh citrus fruits and vegetables. These foods provide essential vitamins, minerals, anti-oxidants that are good for a healthy skin. They help you stay away from ugly white heads.

3.Lemon juice mixture

Combine one cup of lemon juice with warm water and drink daily especially on an empty stomach. This is a great remedy for flushing out toxins from your body.

4.Herbal methods

Fenugreek leaves are very effective for treatment of whiteheads. Crush these leaves to form into a paste and apply over affected face areas for 10 to 15 minutes. Wash with fresh water.  It can be applied every morning. This herb is also used for treatment of pimples and blackheads.
Peel of pomegranate is another remedy. Roast its skin and grind to form powder. Add lemon juice into it and make a paste. Then apply on affected area. Wash with warm water after 15 minutes.

5.Cleansing products

Using medicated soap or a face wash especially made to cure white heads can also be helpful.


Take steam on face with boiling herbal tea and press your skin lightly with a sterilized cotton swab to release clogged oil from pores. If you don’t want to take risk at home, get a facial from a reputed spa or a salon. It will alleviate the problem to considerable extent and make your skin whiteheads-free.
