Sensitive skin can get itchy and red easily because it reacts instantly to any external product applied over it. It needs to be treated carefully with skin care lotions and cream that are mild and not full of harsh chemicals that can damage the skin.

There are many homemade face masks designed especially for sensitive skin. The best thing is that you can make them at home without any special equipment or techniques.

Natural Homemade Face Masks for Sensitive Skin

Yogurt Mask

This is a simple homemade face mask for sensitive skin and to make it you need one cup natural plain yogurt, preferably cold. You also require half cup of oatmeal of any basic type. Mix yogurt and oatmeal together and apply over the face for ten to fifteen minutes or until it dries completely. Wash off using a washcloth that is steamed in the microwave oven. Make sure its not too hot.

You can also add egg whites by mixing them into oatmeal. Apply over the face and let it dry. Gently remove using a few splashes of warm water. Use steaming washcloth on the face.

You can use Pepto-Bismol with oatmeal to make the mask. The active ingredient bismuth subsalicylate in Pepto-Bismol has soothing effect on the face.

Oil and Butter Mask

Mix two tsp. macadamia nut oil with equal amount of jojoba oil, lanolin and coco butter. Heat the mixture on low flame in double boiler. Add one tsp. dried chamomile flowers and stir the mixture for ten minutes over low heat. Now pour the mixture through a fine sieve to strain dried chamomile. Pour it into clean dried double boiler and warm again. Blend two tsp. lanolin and stir well. Remove from the flame and pour into a glass container. Apply this mask all over the face with finger tips. Massage over the cheeks, forehead, chin and neck.

Lanolin helps block moisture loss in sensitive skin. Macadamia nut oil and cocoa butter are natural emollients and jojoba oil moisturizes the skin deeply.

Oatmeal Mask

Mix a third cup of whole oatmeal with an egg yolk. Make sure oatmeal is in powder form. After adding yolk, it will become a paste. Apply this to the skin and leave for ten to fifteen minutes. Rinse off with warm water. Use this mask twice a month for best results.

Honey Mask

Apply warm honey on the face and leave for fifteen minutes and wash off with water.
